Wayside Cross: Cold Weather Emergency Needs List

How to help us meet day-to-day needs during this cold weather challenge.

Below is a list of items we need and use on a regular basis in our 3 shelters and recovery centers in Aurora and Elgin. To help collect these supplies, you can do this on your own at work or home. Include a few friends and make it a group effort by sharing this needs list.

To receive a receipt for your donation, please be sure to fill out the Gift In-Kind Donation Form at the time you drop off your donation and keep a copy for your records. If you have any questions about your gift in kind donation, please e-mail Debbie Butler or call 630-914-6428.

Donations can be dropped off at the Warehouse
behind the 215 E. New York Street building:

Monday-Friday from 9 am – 4 pm.

Gently Used Coats, Gloves, Hats, and Blankets are a must

These are just a few items we typically take. Listed below are a few items you may not have event considered. Please bag clothing items like these in groups if possible. 

First Night Care Bags for Men or Women (Or items they contain)

  • New Socks and Underwear
  • Personal Hygiene Items (hypo allergenic)
  • Disposable Razors

Cases of Water

Gently used Sweaters or sweatshirts

Shower-shoes / Flip-flops

Gently used Towels

FOOD & NON-PERISHABLE ITEMS
• Boxed Cereals, Bags of Rice, Noodles, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Caned Soup, Cup-O-soup, Canned Meat, Spaghetti Sauce, Milk, Lunch Meat, etc.

PERSONAL CARE & HYGIENE
• Men, women, children items etc. — hypoallergenic if possible

CLEANING SUPPLIES
• Disinfectants, Lysol, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, laundry detergent, etc

CLOTHING/SHOES
• Gently used please

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
• Toilet paper, towels, thermometer, Tylenol, batteries, gas cards

USED BIBLES
• NSV, ESV translations preferred as they correlate with our teaching materials
